100,000 Apps For The iPad

The owners of Apple’s iPad must be very excited about now having 100,000 apps to choose from, says a Macstories report.

According to Mashable, this is quite an incredible accomplishment for the company. The original iPad was launched just over a year ago in April 2010. A year later in March, the device had 75,000 apps; it took only three more months to the 1000,000th app. That’s quite an accomplishment.

Mashable compares the 100,000 apps for iPad to the less than 1,000 apps available in the Android Market for Honeycomb. The Android is specifically aimed at tablets; however, “many Android tablets are based on other versions of Android”, making it difficult to know the exact number of “tablet-specific Android apps.”

Apple’s iOS platform, which the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch all share, recently reached half a million apps.

Apple just keeps growing; meaning its competitors have a lot to do to catch up. Everyone has their preference of what company that want to go with, and Apple it most definitely catering to their customers and what they want. They know what they’re doing and to do it right. Maybe that’s why Apple’s so successful.
