Tanya Vlach is a woman who lost an eye as a result of a horrible car accident. But rather than letting such a tragedy blind her to the beauties that life still had to offer, she decided to make the most of it.
I have previously done a couple posts about some cool Kickstarter.com projects that could use some support. But this project from Tanya Vlach may just be one of the most interesting I’ve seen to date. Rather than wearing an eye patch (though I personally think that would be awesome), Tanya has started a Kickstarter project to raise funding in order to construct a new eye for herself.
Say what? This is how the eye would work. The eye would have a small webcam in it that would theoretically be able to transmit 720p video to a mobile app as well as being able to zoom and capture images with a blink-activated sensor. Besides these features, Tanya plans on the eye being able to incorporate facial recognition, a dilating pupil that changes with the lighting, geotagging, and UV/infrared capture.
Sounds to me like a lot of technology to fit in to a little eye socket. And yet Tanya seems determined to make it happen. If you’d like to help her make it happen (or would like to see the video), check it out here.
