App Reviews: PocketCloud and SoundHound

If you have a smartphone, be it an iPhone or Android-based phone, you know the exciting feeling you get when you discover a new and exciting app that fixes some problem in your life you didn’t know you had.  Most of the apps I’ve downloaded are admittedly games (I’ve become akin to a zen master in the Plants v. Zombies game) but there are quite a few apps out there that are equally fun and useful.  Let’s take at a couple of these that are available for iOS and Android devices.

The first is called PocketCloud and since cloud-storage technology seems to be all the rage these days, this app may be just what you’re looking for.  The app allows you to connect to your PC or virtual desktop and gives you easy access to an end-user machine from anywhere.  Sound confusing?  It does to me, so here’s a video.

The last one I wanted to show is called SoundHound and, let’s be honest, it’s pretty rad.  I hate it when I’m listening to the radio (which doesn’t happen often actually) and I hear a song I like but don’t know what it’s called or who the artist is.  This is the perfect situation for SoundHound.  Soundhound recognizes songs, singing, and even humming and will identify the song it is hearing, who the artist is, and where you were when you heard the song.  Check out the demo video.

So check out these 2 apps and let me know what you think in the comments!
