Apple is carrying the Nest Learning Thermostat (via @jkhowland)

There were rumors that Apple would be carrying the Nest Learning Thermostat, and it seems they were true.

The device is available on the Apple online store for $249.95. It’s not quite in physical stores yet, but it seems to be on it’s way.

The Nest device was designed by a team of former Apple employees. When it launched it was heralded as a Apple-esque device outside of Apple’s industry.

You may wonder why Apple would carry this type of device:

Aside from sharing some design DNA, the thermostat unit can also be controlled from iPhones, iPads, iPods and Macs – we presume that Android functionality is still there.

Nest was available only in the US until recently, when they announced Canadian availability as well. The device can be installed by trained professionals for an additional $120, plus $25 for every extra Nest.
Apple wasn’t the first retail agreement for the thermostat. The Nest is already available at a limited number of Lowe’s stores. There are also local professional installers very likely close to you that you can call to have a Nest installed.

If you visit the Nest site and click buy up at the top you can look for local installers or Lowe’s carrying the product.

They ship quickly from both Nest and Apple, usually within a couple days.
