Bartender Clears Your OS X Toolbar Cruft (BONUS: The first use of an animated GIF on the ZAGGblog)

If you use any Mac for more than a couple of months, you’ll notice that your menu bar starts to get pretty cluttered. You may wonder what harm a few extra icons can do, but then you realize that you’ve got 25 of them and they’re taking over your screen. If you have too many, they all become useless.

I clear out my menu bar about once a month, ridding my screen of icons for rarely used apps. But even still, I’ve got this:

So when I read about Bartender over at The Verge, my interest was piqued.

The app gathers all of your icons into one area, so you still get the advantage of having quick access to your various icon menus without them constantly on your screen. The company has a simple GIF that shows what the app can do for you:
