Confirmed: iPad 3 will be announced March 7

The iPad 3 announcement date, previously rumored to be the first week in March,  has now been narrowed to March 7.

According to sources who have been reliable in the past, Apple currently plans to hold their iPad 3 announcement on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.

Jim “The Beard” Dalrymple doesn’t share inside Apple info often. When he does talk, he says little. As usual, he confirmed it with a simple “Yep.”

I usually avoid spreading rumors until they feel pretty solid. Especially after reading how incredibly unreliable most rumors are in Stupid Apple Rumors: A Fanboy’s Rant.

But here are a few of the possible updates to the iPad:

• The usual: faster, more memory, better camera…
• Retina display
• 4G? (Doubt it)
