Gizmodo: The Worst Phones Money Can Buy

Not everyone owns an iPhone or Android phone, shocking, I know. With the wide number of smartphones available for $199, $99, even $49 or free, it’s amazing what phones that cell phone carriers are still charging for. Gizmodo compiled a list of the Worst Phones that money can buy today. Here are a couple of highlights:

Samsung Brightside

The Samsung Brightside looks like a fake Android phone. Maybe it is? But its counterfeit chic look doesn’t come with a counterfeit price: $120, with Verizon contract.

Samsung :) t359

T-Mobile says you can “have fun and discover new things while you stay connected” with this phone, but the truth is that nobody will be your friend if you own it. This thing is only $10 with contract, but it literally has a “: )” in its name (Samsung :) t359), so here we are.

LG Extravert

This thing, the LG Extravert, is $100 from Verizon.

A Dumbphone by Any Other Name

I know I have a history of bashing non iPhone smartphones and platforms, but I can definitely say that any free smartphone is better than these paid dumbphones – Android, Windows Phone, heck, even a three year old web OS phone would be better. I would pay for the first generation iPhone or the HTC G1 before I would pay for one of these.

So please, for the sake of humanity, if you or a loved one is considering paying for one of these (or many other) dumbphones, please help them. Send them here, send them to counseling, send them anywhere but to a carrier store until you can show them the light.
