Google Play is rolling out a new feature aimed squarely at Apple’s iTunes Match service. The Scan and Match feature will make managing your music collection easier, since you won’t have to actually upload all your files to the cloud. Instead, Google will scan your music library and “rebuild” it entirely in the cloud, making it available to stream to all your devices (desktop/tablet/mobile) on-demand. What’s better, music playback will be enhanced to 320/kbps, even if your original files are a lesser quality.
Google launched this service for European users last month, and it goes live for U.S. users today. You can read the announcement from Google, here. Otherwise, head over to Google Play Music to get started.
