I use Chrome about half the time. I use it for it’s built in Flash, because it seems like sometimes YouTube doesn’t want to play video with HTML 5 for me.
Many would argue that Google Chrome is the best browser you can install on a Mac or a PC. According to an analyst, it’s ‘definitely’ coming to the iOS App Store this year.
Macquarie Ben Schacter
The claim is bold enough that it deserves to be shared, Cult of Mac writes:
If it doesn’t arrive by the end of this quarter, it will arrive before the end of the year, according to a report from Macquarie analyst Ben Schacter. “Google Chrome browser for iOS is coming,” Schacter writes. “Apple may already be reviewing Google’s submitted code.”
Frankly, I haven’t been too impressed with Google apps on iOS. Gmail and Google Search were both poor apps at best. The latest Google+ update is a step in the right direction.
Bad News for Apple
I’m not exactly sure that this is bad news for Apple. Really good mail software, or calendar software has come out on the App Store, but you see the great majority of users still using the built in apps.
Having Google Chrome on iOS would be a big deal for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users. But it’s potentially a big deal for Apple and Google as well.
If Google was able to get their browser adopted widely on iOS devices it might have a big impact on the $1 billion Google pays Apple for the searches performed through Safari.
