Hey Instagrammers, this app tells you the sunrise and sunset times for any location (and no internet connection needed)

I launched another app today I thought you might be interested in. This app is great for photographers, hikers or anyone headed outdoors. The app was designed and built over a weekend in Ogden at an event called Startup Weekend. Two developers, a designer, and a team of business geniuses.

Basic Idea

We wanted to put out an app that could give you the time of sunrise and sunset for any location without an internet connection. Deep in the woods out on a lake, or even in the middle of the ocean you can pull out this app and see when the sun will rise or set at your location.

The app was born to be simple and easily developed in a weekend. We think what came out is pretty killer.

What it does

Here are the features we’re touting:

  1. No internet connection required. If you’re 10,000 feet up in the mountains without cell service and need to know what time you should be down the mountain, we got you covered.
  2. Beautiful swipe implementation to see the times. Follow the dark purple color with your thumb to see the sunset time appear.
  3. Weekly view. Tap the app once to see the sunrise/sunset times for the next 4 days.
  4. Works with one hand. No pinching or pulling required.

The design

Zarin Ficklin did an amazing job on the design. The kid is seriously one of the best designers I’ve ever seen. Go check out the app and you’ll see what I mean. The screens are simple, swipe up and down to see the sunrise and sunset, and left and right for date and location.

Simple, easy, and perfect for the photographer (or even Instagrammer) that wants to capture the sunrise or sunset light.
