How To: Download YouTube Videos For Free

If you’ve found a video on YouTube you want to save to watch later, maybe when you don’t have an Internet connection (I’m in that position right now, writing this article on a plane without WiFi), I’ve got good news for you. Below you’ll find three ways to do just that.

Kibase.com (Click here to go now)

I like Kibase.com for the simple fact that it doesn’t require you to download any special software to your computer. The entire thing is web-based.

  1. On the YouTube video you want to download, right click on the side of the page and select ‘View Page Source’.
  2. Copy the entire page source (Cntrl + C on PC, Command + C on a Mac.
  3. Go to Kibase.com/YoutubeDownloaderAdv.html.
  4. Past the page source (Cntrl + V on PC, Command + V on a Mac) in the text box.
  5. When the conversion is complete, the file will automatically start downloading.

ClipGrab (Click here to go now)

ClipGrab is also a great, free solution for downloading YouTube videos, but it requires you to download the program (supported for Windows and Mac) and install it on your computer.

  1. Assuming you have ClipGrab installed, click the second tab labeled ‘Downloads’.
  2. Copy the YouTube URL of the video you want to download.
  3. Past the URL in the text box and click ‘Grab this clip!’
  4. You can also adjust the format and quality prior to downloading.
