Not All Apple Devices Will Be Able To Upgrade To iOS 7 — See The List Here

Yesterday, Apple showed us the future of iOS with its seventh major version. Love it or hate it, it’s undoubtedly a departure from the skeuomorphic design language of all previous versions. It’s more flat and less fluff. iOS 7 is available in BETA form for developers already and will be available to the public “this fall” (our bet is on August for a public release).

If you’re wondering if the iOS device(s) you use will see the update, wonder no more. Here’s a full compatibility list of the iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches that Apple plans to update:

- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5

- iPod Touch (4th – 5th gen)

- iPad 2
- iPad 3 (Retina)
- iPad 4 (Retina + Lightning)
- iPad mini

However, while these devices will get updated to iOS 7, not every feature will be available on all of them. 9to5Mac posted this table with a breakdown of major new features and whether or not they’ll be available on each device.

As for the iOS devices left out in the cold for iOS 7, here’s a list of the ones that WON’T be getting the update:

- iPhone 3Gs
- iPhone 3G
- iPhone 2G

- iPad (first-gen)

- iPod Touch (gen 1 thru 3)

So, there you have it. You still have a few months to wait, but if you like the redesigned look and feel, it’ll be worth the wait.

MY Zagg mini keyboard also stopped after update. I just allowed it to be picked up again as if it were a new device and it works fine now. iPad mini.

My search key doesn’t work with iOS7. Slideshow also doesn’t seem to work. Would love an update or something to make these work again.

Same here, keyboard stopped working after upgrading my iPad 2 to iOS7, tried turning the keyboard/ipad on-off, re-pairing the devices, no luck. Guess I’ll have to get a new Logitech keyboard.
