This little feature is one that can save you tons of time. When you first get an iOS device it seems like you type your email hundreds of times just to set up all your applications and different services. Apple has come to the rescue with iOS 5 to help you with this. You can also use this to help you write quick message with only a few letters.
On your iOS 5 device go to Settings > General > Keyboard and then go down to Shortcuts. Here you can type any sentence, email, or number and then give that phrase a shortcut. When you type the shortcut anywhere on your device, it will automatically auto correct it to the phrase you have previously set after you press the space bar. It says the shortcut is optional to put but it does not auto-complete when you don’t put one.
Email is a pretty generic shortcut that I made, but you can get creative on what shortcuts you set or use for email or that special message for that special someone.
If you know someone that is going to get an iPhone or iPad this season, you might want to suggest setting this up first. As it makes life a little easier when they are setting up all their apps. For those of you that have already been using this what are some of the phrases that you have for your shortcuts?
