So I could probably fill a month’s worth of blogs on the different rumors circulating around the changes with the iPhone 5. One of the rumors that is consistently showing up though is the presence of a full physical keyboard. More specifically, a physical keypad of the slide-out variety. I absolutely love the iPhone, but my one dislike has always been the lack of a keypad. Thus, the rumor of a full keypad rocks my socks.
Thinking about it though, I’m not sure if I can fully adjust to the idea of an iPhone with a slide-out keypad. The iPhone in my mind has always been a wonderfully sleek and modern piece of technology. I wonder what a slide-out keypad would do to this image though. While a keypad would be hugely functional, I think it would take away from the “aura” of the phone. Slide-out keypads always seem to be somewhat clunky and can carry with them a wealth of potential problems. We all know how emphatic iPhone users are about any slight issue with their phones, so a slide-out keypad seems downright terrifying in this respect.
After much thought on my part though, I decided that I would like a slide-out keypad. I trust Apple’s ability to add features without taking away the persona of their products. Thus, I hope that the sliding keypad will be no different. Unfortunately, the addition of a slide-out keypad would open up a whole new realm of problems for me. I would have to consider if I should wait the agonizing months between when my contract is up until the iPhone 5 comes out. I know I live a tough life considering that this would be one of the more difficult decisions I face. So, bring on the full keypad Apple, I’ve got a couple months left to ponder my next move.
What are your thoughts on a full keypad? Would it be nicer, or do you like the current setup?
