Today, during an event at its corporate headquarters in Cupertino, CA, Apple pulled the veil off the long awaited, much anticipated iPhone 5S. As expected and as has been tradition, this is the iterative version and slightly upgraded big brother to last year’s iPhone 5. It keeps the same physical design and form factor, but adds some beefier internal components.
Unlike any previous year, Apple also announced the iPhone 5C, a budget friendly model aimed at developing markets and prepaid customers, even here in the U.S. The iPhone 5C comes in blue, white, yellow, pink, and green color options and 16 GB and 32 GB configurations. The 16 GB model will sell for $99 with a two-year contract, while the 32 GB model will sell for $199 with a two-year contract.
The the iPhone 5C will be available for pre-order September 13th (this Friday) and both are scheduled to be released next Friday, September 20th, at 8am.
As usual, you’ll be able to purchase both models at your local Apple Store or carrier store. The iPhone 5S will sell for $199 (16GB), $299 (32GB), or $399 (64gb) in Black, Silver and Gold.
