One week from today, Apple will unveil the next version of the iPhone, possibly dubbed the iPhone 5S, at a special event in Cupertino at the company’s headquarters. It will start at 10am PST / 1pm EST. We’re also expecting them to announce a second model at the same time, possibly called the iPhone 5C, a cheaper, “budget” model made from plastic. The budget version of the iPhone is expected to contain similar components to the current iPhone 5, but at a reduced price meant to attract more buyers in emerging, lower income markets.
The iPhone 5S is expected to have a faster processor, a new dual-LED flash for the camera, an improved camera sensor, a new champagne / gold color option, better graphics performance, and possibly a fingerprint scanner for security. It will run iOS 7, which is expected to be available to the public at the same time the iPhone 5S is announced. The iPhone 5S will be nearly indistinguishable from the current iPhone 5, retaining the same 4-inch screen and unibody design.
As always, we’ll keep you posted.
