So I am on the last few weeks of my cell phone plan and I am hit with a conundrum. I have an iPhone and I am an AT&T customer. What I don’t know is do I switch to Verizon now that they will be iPhone ready, or do I stick it out with tried and true AT&T. Now I have had no real big problems with my current service, but with AT&T recently dropping their unlimited package I do foresee some problems. So I did a little bit of research, emphasis on a little bit as much of this was probably common knowledge.
AT&T maintains the advantage over Verizon in that you can use voice and data simultaneously. This is definitely a useful feature for me as it comes in handy in a pinch. Also, AT&T has history on their side. I’ve been one of the lucky ones who have never had any problems with the network during my contract. However, the fact that they do not offer unlimited data plans now is something that concerns me greatly. I could attempt to have one grandfathered into my contract, but I am not sure how that would go.
On the other side, Verizon recently confirmed that it offer an unlimited data plan for $30 a month. This is certainly something that is very intriguing to me, and a definite advantage over AT&T. While I have had no problems with the AT&T network, the grass is always greener argument holds true in this case. My friends all have Verizon, and their service seems to always be even better than mine. No voice and data is definitely a downside, but I’m not sure if that is a make or break option. Additionally, both companies are set to offer the hotspot feature at $20/ month.
So, what should I do, stay with AT&T for the iPhone or switch over to potentially greener pastures with Verizon?
