Kickstarter Projects worth over $100,000 – 360 Degree iPhone Lens

I LOVE Kickstarter. I love that they have projects that are gaining over $100,000 and even up to $1,000,000 in backing. Kickstarter is making a lot of very cool independent projects possible.

I was browsing the recent projects that got some serious backing, and found this one -

Dot: 360 degree video capture for the iPhone 4.

It’s a stylish, durable and downright pocketable 360º (panoramic) lens attachment and app for the iPhone 4.

What does it do?

Dot lets your iPhone capture immersive, fully navigable, panoramic video in real-time – and share with friends on your phone, as well as on Facebook and Twitter, or streamed online using our awesome panoramic video web platform and player.

You have to see this video from Kickstarter. You can buy the product now from Kogeto.com for only $79. It has an app that makes it easy to take, and share the vidoes you take with the camera.

The coolest thing, if you skip to the middle of the video, is how futuristic the app is. You can pan around the video while it’s playing, so you can change your perspective live.

They even have a few example videos you have to see. The best is Skateboarding in Brooklyn. You can drag your mouse around the video to move the perspective. You’ll have to go check it out on their site.

Cool, right?

The iPhone has always been called “magical”… But with an accessory like this, it might actually be true.

I’d love to hear what you think about the future of 360 video, or about how Kickstarter is helping fund sweet projects like this.
