I grew up loving Star Trek, especially the technology in Star Trek. Every wall in Star Trek had a display mounted on it that you could walk up and touch and do stuff like fire phasers or activate holodeck programs. So being the imaginative little scamp that I was, I’d always pretend that the walls around my house had computers embedded in them and I could use them.
So as smart phone and tablets became part of my life, I have to admit I sometimes think of mounting my devices to a wall and doing stuff with them. Thankfully, someone else had this idea and actually executed it, and with an ongoing Kickstarter campaign, are trying to bring a great product to market.
The solution to your device wall mounting needs is Wallee, which uses a combination of a wall mount (or a suction cup mount for your car, or a little desk mount) and a magnetic case for your phone, allowing you to easily attach and detach your device from the mount.
Right now, Wallee is offering mounts for the iPhone 4 and 4S, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and the Samsung Galaxy S2. On the Kickstarter campaign page, there are several ideas mentioned about how to mount the phone, several of which I could see myself doing right away. For example, one example has a phone mounted to a wall in the bathroom where a man is apparently watching some type of video while he prepares for the day. In another, a phone is mounted in a car and the driver is navigating town using the phone’s GPS.
In addition to wall mounts, Wallee is offering a desk mount (one that sits on your desk and will prop your phone up while it sits there) or a suction cup mount for the windshield in your car.
