This musical invention is fantastic! It is a marimba organ. A marimba is like an African sounding xylophone. It has a deeper wooden sound. This ingenious marimba keyboard was created by the musical engineer, Joshua Kirsch. There are mallets attached to the marimba pieces with yarn. The mallets are triggered by the touch sensitive aluminum keyboard. This instrument is capable of playing four and a half octaves. If you can play the piano, you can definitely play this instrument.

When Joshua first introduced his instrument, he allowed the attending crowd to test out the instrument for themselves. The guests at the introduction were astounded at the ingenuity and of the instrument and just how much time and man power was spent connecting each piece of yarn to each key and marimba. They were amazed at how well the instrument responded to their touch. This is one instrument I would like to see be mass produced for musicians, concert bands and orchestras.
What do you think of this nifty invention? Definitely seems like a much easier way of playing the marimba, rather than hitting each bar with a mallet, don’t you think?
