A company called Exmovere Holdings, Inc has developed a new device called The Chariot. It is meant to be a direct competitor for motorized scooters and wheel chairs marketed to the obese, elderly, and people of limited mobility. It surrounds the user’s legs and hips in a sort of cocoon and works much like a segway – it’s a hands-free, self-balancing, self-propelling vehicle.
Exmovere claims that The Chariot has several competitive advantages:
- allows users to maintain eye-level with other people
- it can also monitor vital signs and environmental signs
- low carbon footprint
- dynamic stabilization on rough surfaces
- wireless connectivity and GPS
All that sounds great and all, but Exmovere is forgetting one thing – it makes you look like a cyborg! Seriously, The Chariot looks so ridiculous that I can’t imagine a single person actually wanting to buy this over a motorized scooter. Nevertheless, it’s still kind of a cool gadget. Maybe it will find a niche among science fiction fans.
