It’s been expected for a while: Samsung and Google will soon be releasing their next Nexus tablet, and it’s going to be called the Nexus 10.
We expect they’ll unveil the new Android tablet at the Google Event this coming Monday, Oct. 29th. I’ll be in New York City to bring you all the details as they’re announced.
It’s also expected that they’ll show off a 32GB version of the Nexus 7, as well as a model equipped with a cellular radio for connectivity on the go. In my opinion, tablets are the idea form factor for portability – they’re a mobile computer, afterall – but I’ve never seen as much value to tablets that are WiFi-only. Face it: with so much of our content living in the cloud these days, and so many services relying on the web, the usefulness of a non-connected device drops tremendously.
It’s nice to see Google expanding the Nexus hardware program. Once the Nexus 10 launches, they’ll offer a phone, 7-inch tablet and 10-inch tablet. The next Nexus phone is also expected to be unveiled at the same event on Monday, along with a new release of Android: Key Lime Pie. We’ll keep you posted.
