Pesky iPad rumors crushed by Tim Cook

Apple just announced their quarterly earnings, and if you listen between the lines (and stupid analyst questions) you can pick up on a few rumors Tim Cook crushed.

Squished like a bug

So in-between color, color, opportunity, china, levels, and a bunch of other stupid questions from analysts, Tim cook offered a unique detail.

There won’t be a cheaper iPad jr. as some rumor sites seem hell-bent to claim. In his statement, Cook pointed out that the $399 iPad 2 was doing very well in markets sensitive to price (his example was the education sector) but that the current $499 price point set for the New iPad 3 was ideal: “I have to tell you, the new iPad is on fire and we’re selling them as fast as we can make them,” said Tim Cook.

Swatted like a fly

Of the stupid rumors asked about, the most ridiculous was a MacBook/iPad hybrid. Of course what brings this is the Transformer Prime, and an upcoming lineup of Windows 8 devices that cross the lines. If they ever ship, let alone in meaningful numbers.

Tim Cook brushed it off easily by stating that products like that come with .

“You can converge a toaster and fridge, but those things are probably not gonna be pleasing to the user.”

Quick, somebody call Samsung and Asus and give them the news – Apple is leaving a gaping hole in their product line-up.
