Who doesn’t like an awesome retro video game? Turns out there are tons available for the iPhone, and there’s even a mobile console that you can use as a controller that the iPhone plugs into. It’s awesome, and brings back true Game Boy memories.
But one company thought that wasn’t quite enough. Sure, the Game Boy is awesome, but what about playing original Nintendo games? Sure, we can play tons of them on our phones, but that touch screen just isn’t the same as using those old school, two-button controllers of our childhood memories.
Enter Cascadia Games.
They have designed a fully functioning product that lets you play retro games from your iPhone on your HDTV, including the old-school Nintendo controllers! Here’s how they describe it on Kickstarter:
Have you ever played a great retro game on your iPhone, only to be frustrated with the touch controls? Or have you wanted to play an awesome iPad game with a friend, but two people holding one tablet just doesn’t feel right? With the GameDock for iOS you can play classic games the way they were meant to be played: with two controllers and a TV. Just plug the dock into your TV like a video game console and your iOS device into the dock like a game cartridge. The GameDock is designed to be compatible with existing iCade games and for dock-ready games that include two-player support and full 1080p HDTV output.
As of this writing, the team has raised $14,238 of their $50,000 goal on Kickstarter. Amazing! If haven’t checked them out, head on over to its Kickstarter page to give them a pledge!
