Republic Wireless Offers Unlimited Cell Plan for $19/mo

Republic Wireless made a splash in November after announcing an unlimited data, text, and voice cell phone plan for only $19/mo off contract. They’ve made it through their first beta group which began in May, and they are opening up the beta to the next wave of applicants.

New users of the small wireless carrier are limited to the Motorola Defy XT, a seemingly-ancient Android 2.3 phone with a 3.7-inch display, 1Ghz CPU, a 5 MP camera, with 1GB ROM onboard with a microSD slot. The phone is only $250, and is unsubsidized, meaning no contracts.
The reopening and new phone options were announced on Tuesday. This wave is only open to those who applied earlier this year, but the company says that more program launches are planned for the coming months. You can sign up for the beta on Republic Wireless’ homepage.
