How To: Sign Up And Cancel Your Amazon Prime Membership

There’s really just one major drawback to shopping online, as compared to shopping in a brick and mortar retail store: the time you have to wait for your item(s) to ship and arrive on your doorstep. If you’re a frequent online shopper, you’ll find it in your best interests to sign up for Amazon Prime. With Prime, you get free 2-day shipping on the majority of items listed on Amazon, for free. If you need overnight shipping, that gets discounted, too. Amazon Prime costs $79 per year, which amounts to about $6.50 per month. With that in mind, if you place just one order on Amazon each month, the service will pay for itself on shipping costs alone. And that doesn’t begin to touch the other benefits of Prime.

In addition to free 2-day shipping, Amazon Prime gives you access to unlimited streaming of more than 40,000 movies and TV shows on your tablet, PC, or TV. While Netflix has a much larger selection, it costs around $100 a year. Before you sign up for Prime, you can check out and browse the full library of Amazon Prime Video, here: Amazon Prime Video.

If those two benefits alone aren’t enough to sell you on a $79 / year membership, consider also that Prime gives you access to more than 350,000 eBooks you can “borrow” through Amazon Kindle. Sometimes, with everything else you can find on Amazon, it’s easy to forget that their roots are in books.
