SpeechJammer gun stops those awkward office conversations

If it seems like you are never able to get a word in when you are will your group of friends a solution has finally been created. There is now no need to stay quite and wait for your turn to talk. All you need to do is pint the SoundJammer toward them and pull the trigger. You will be free to talk in just a matter of seconds.

How does it work?

The device it built out of a speaker, a trigger, a sensor, and a mic. On top it has a laser pointer attached to it so you can point the gun toward the exact sound source you want to stop. When you pull the trigger and engage the jammer, the mic will pic up what they say and it repeats it back to them at a delay of a few hundred milliseconds.

When your own voice is replayed back to you at such a rate it becomes very discomforting and the only way to make it stop is to stop speaking. This method causes no harm to fall up those that you use the jammer on. The prototype works from up to 98 ft. away. The hardest part will be sneaking it around with out people asking you question about it. I guess you can always make them stop and move on.

This was created by Kazutaka Kurihara and Koji Tsukada who have a degree in Information Science and Technology from the Information Technology Research Institute.
