T-Mobile will be selling ‘against’ the iPhone. Not getting it — again.

Those of us who like to keep our phone bills cheap have either moved to Sprint, or are holding out hope for a T-Mobile iPhone. It seems the hold will continue, because the new training program at T-Mobile is setting September sales goals to sell ‘against’ the iPhone.

Perhaps it’s coincidental that the information for employees to utilize against the iPhone will drop on September 21st, a date being tossed around as a possible release date for the next-generation iPhone. Perhaps it’s just coincidence but we can’t envision a scenario in which T-Mobile would prepare their employees to sell against a product they are about to receive.

The training material will be available to the sales represetatives on September 21st. Which, interestingly enough, will likely be the availability date of the new iPhone.

T-Mobile had a significant number of iPhone subscribers on it’s network prior to the Sprint availability of the device. The network should be able to support the iPhone on it’s 4G HSPA+ network by the end of 2012. It’s likely that they will attempt to attract iPhone customers again as the HSPA+ network has better coverage nation-wide.
