You need to pack a ton of stuff for college. Here’s 5 things you must have to help get you started.
1. A Light, Fast, and Beautiful Computer
The 13″ MacBook Air is the best computer I’ve ever owned, and mine isn’t even the latest generation. It weighs less than 3 pounds (about the same as a half-gallon of milk), so you can barely feel it in your backpack. It’s strong, looks beautiful, and is wicked fast. It will be the fastest laptop you’ve ever used, I promise.
2. An Awesome Messenger Bag
Defy Bags make some of the most stylish messenger bags I’ve seen. My personal favorite is Square. Not too big but not too small, it fits just enough to get you to class and back.
3. A Portable, Wireless Music Player
Whether after studying, prepping for a party, or just celebrating the arrival of a beautiful Friday afternoon, there will be plenty of times and many places that require some awesome music. Enter the Boost. It fits in your hand, plays wirelessly, and still puts out great sound.
4. An Alarm That Will Absolutely, No Questions Asked, Get You Out of Bed
The Ramos Alarm Clark is my favorite Kickstarter project of all time. The alarm is two parts: the base station that goes by your bed that shows the time and makes noise to wake you up, and a second panel that you can put in your bathroom or other place away from your bedroom. To turn the alarm off you have to memorize a random 4-number digit on the clock, walk to the 2nd panel, and punch in the code. So only by waking up and exerting some mental exercise will you turn off the alarm.
And if that’s not cool enough, the thing is made out of beautiful wood, and uses Cold War Soviet Union nixie tubes that were designed to go in space craft. They look freaking cool.
You might drive your roommate crazy with an alarm that you can’t turn off, but at least it’ll be the coolest alarm anyone’s ever seen.
5. The Perfect Road Trip Companion: The ZAGGsparq
Now being the carefree student that you are, you’re going to run into a situation where 4 people are in the car, only 2 have smart phones with directions to your next stop, and both phones are dead. No problem, though. Just plug them into the USB port of your charged up ZAGGsparq and they’ll be good to go. That thing can hold 4 charges, so you could charge both phones twice if you needed.
