The Apple-fication of the Surface… Meet, iDesk

If you’re reading this blog, then I’m sure you’re one of the many that has seen the Microsoft Surface. A giant touchscreen table top is not a new idea. Adam Bento’s iDesk concept is simply the Apple-lover’s version.

But let’s be honest, the Microsoft Surface is just as conceptual as the iDesk, no one is going out and buying either of them. The Surface costs around $8,400.

Will Apple ever make something like the iDesk? There are certainly rumors that the next version of the iMac might have a touchscreen, but that’s not been confirmed. If they do, maybe they’ll be able to scale touchscreens successfully larger screens in time, and eventually drive the prices down to make something like this affordable.

I’m not sure a desk like this would increase productivity right away. Most likely it would immediately result in more Facebook, Twitter and (gasp) even Google+ posts. Of course, Youtube would be better off with a lot of quick views.

It might eventually give us all a better handle on our work, and help us stay more organized. Then again, I’ve seen some of your desktops on your computer screens; this is certainly a simple extension of that.

Until you all can learn to be more organized on your laptops, we just get to look at a pretty concept.
