The best apps to get swimming, cycling, or running like an Olympic athlete

Just like us, you’ve probably been watching the Olympics and getting motivated to get back into athletic shape. Was it was a swimming event that motivated you? Maybe it was cycling? Or are you looking forward to track and field?

Whatever lit your Olympic fire, there are a number of excellent mobile apps too help you train for a race, or even just to get back in shape. Here are a few apps for learning, tracking and getting social:

Swimming:

Learning: Go Swim

When you’re trying to get into swimming the hardest part can be figuring out the strokes. Go Swim will give you drills to learn, videos and pictures to explain each stroke, and a ‘fan wall’ to interact with other swimmers using the app.

Cycling:

Tracking: Strava Cycling

Strava makes gorgeous tracking apps for both cycling and running. The apps are easy to use, and store your data in the cloud so you can always come back and access your exercises. The app will even show you where other people are riding, so you can visit the most popular spots.

Running:

Social: WalkJogRun

This really is a killer app for a runner that is exercising often or one just trying to get off the blocks. The purpose of the app is to give you routes that other runners are taking. You can even create a route for yourself before you run it to figure out how far it will be.

If the Olympics have you inspired, these are some apps you will want to check out.
