September 12th Apple Event
Caleb Hicks said it best:
This is as much confirmation as anyone needs that the September 12 Apple event is real.
And what confirmation was that? Jim Dalrymple of course:
The Loop
iMore has learned that Apple is planning to debut the new iPhone at a special event on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, with the release date to follow 9 days later on Friday, September 21.
Yep.
Jim linked over to the iMore site, and the post that claims alongside the Wall Street Journal that the Apple event is in the books. Jim’s confirmation along with the post by John Paczkowski over at Wall Street Journal’s AllThingsD just makes it feel as sure as Apple had announced it themselves.
The iMore blog has been pretty solid lately. Even without Jim’s confirmation the rumor feels right. Apple is likely to stick to the September announcement date tying the iPhone with the iPod event. Historically the iPod event has been the first or second week of September every year. The iPhone has been available to purchase 7–10 days following the announcement with the exception of the first iPhone.
What’s coming
The confirmation by Jim was possibly only referring to the event. It’s not clear that Jim or John knows that Apple will be introducing a new iPad lineup on that date.
Either way, the only thing as exciting as knowing that an Apple event is on it’s way is the event itself.
