This Podcast Will Teach You About Stuff You Never Knew About

Call me late to the game, but I’m just now starting to get into podcasts.

Sure, everyone has been podcasting for years now, but I recently started scouring the Internet for podcasts that could inform me about things I otherwise never would have known about. Sure, I am enjoying some of the most popular podcasts (hello, “This American Life” and “The Nerdist”) but one of my favorites because of its obscure range of topics is the Stuff You Should Know podcast.

I started listening to Stuff You Should Know because I was looking for something obscure and something that wouldn’t take too long to listen to. The fun of Stuff You Should Know is the wide range of topics its hosts cover. Here is a sample of recent topics covered:

  • How Chess Works
  • How Ouija Boards Work
  • How Guide Dogs Work
  • Did Archimedes Build A Death Ray?
  • How Silly Putty Works
  • What Was The Most Peaceful Time In History?
  • How Jet Lag Works

If you’re one who gets curious about random topics, you’ll probably enjoy Stuff You Should Know, as well as the additional podcasts that are part of its sister “How Stuff Works” network. There also is a “Stuff You Should Know” television show on the Science Channel, which I think will soon be making its way onto my DVR list.
