Touchscreens on ANY Surface? Yes Please.

When Microsoft came out with the XBOX 360 Kinect, it was impressive and it even surpassed the Nintendo Wii’s motion detection interactions. Now, it has shown us something even more impressive; a touch based interface on any surface.

The demonstrations of this technology showed the testers with the Kinect camera strapped to their left shoulder. Another device on the shoulder would project a visual that could be displayed on any surface. Not only did it show the projection, but the Kinect camera made it possible for the interface to be touch based. This means that if the projector showed a keypad on your hand, you could dial a number with your other hand by pushing the buttons displayed! The thing I found most impressive was the paint and pastel. By having a pastel in your left hand, you could choose the color you wanted to draw with, with your right hand, and draw on any surface with that same hand! The video shows that you can draw on walls, notebook pads, your hands and your arms!

This technology is amazing and it is being improved daily. Plans for an even smaller and convenient invention that is similar and more impressive are being carried out. This could be the answer to Microsoft’s next video game console!

I guess this would be the end of the iPad and all the little iPad 3 accessories that go along with it. It’s amazing how fast technology is improving. Stay tuned to see what they come up with next.
