IPod Accessories, Some Of Which Are A Scream

When I stopped walking around the show floor long enough to realize how hungry I was, I grabbed a hotdog from a concession stand at the Sands Expo Center and started talking talking to a guy sitting next to me at the
table. I asked about his company, called Zagg.
"Well," said Cameron Gibbs, holding his iPhone in one hand and taking a set of keys out of his pocket. "We make a protective cover that protects gadgets from getting all scratched up."
Then, to my horror, he started scraping his keys over the screen of his iPod. But there wasn't a mark on it. I took a closer look and could barely make out a very thin film surrounding the touchscreen and metal back. The material, he said, was once used to coat helicopter blades to protect them.
It's the company's first time at CES, and they have an even bigger booth at Apple World next week. The proliferation of Apple iPods and other products have helped Zagg's business skyrocket, he said.
I saw a number of companies offering all kinds of protective covers for iPods. Otter Box makes waterproof cases. A slew of other companies make every type of iPod docking stations you can imagine. One, by Lachiya, is shaped like a pig and comes in several bright colors.
Later, on the shuttle bus back to the hotel, I ran into a representative from SkyMall, the catalogue in the back of airplane seats. "If I see one more iPod dock, I just might scream," she said.
