UV-C Light is a wavelength of ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet light damages bacterial cells by damaging their DNA, effectively killing the cells.
Can I open the lid during the sanitation cycle?
For best results, it is recommended to let the full sanitation cycle run uninterrupted. However, the UV-C bulbs automatically shut off when the lid is open and the cycle is interrupted.
Will the UV Sanitizer damage or fade plastics?

How do I know if the sanitizer is on?
During a sanitation cycle, four indicator lights on the device will illuminate. Once all indicator lights turn off, the sanitation cycle is complete.
