Working Towards a
Sustainable Future

As a global citizen, ZAGG is changing the way we think, design, produce, and package. We’re forming partnerships that help us maximize our efforts, and we’re creating solutions that benefit consumers and the planet.

"Becoming more sustainable doesn’t mean compromising on quality. As part of our commitment to protecting and enhancing the devices that connect you to your world, we’ve sought out sustainable solutions, like D3O® Bio and plastic-free packaging, that actually improve your experience and benefit the planet."

ZAGG

Protect and Enhance

At ZAGG, it's always been our mission to protect and enhance, and that includes the world we live in. We're starting our journey towards environmental sustainability by considering environmental improvements to packaging, product materials, recycling, manufacturing, and more.

What We’ve Done So Far

Here’s a look at the action we’re taking in our four core areas of focus: Packaging, Materials, Recycling & Disposal, and Manufacturing.

Sustainable Retail
Packaging Initiative

Did you know that roughly 50% of our plastic waste comes from single-use packaging plastics? At ZAGG, we’ve replaced the plastic in our InvisibleShield packaging with recyclable paper counterparts. And, our phone case packaging is 100% recyclable. As a result, ZAGG has eliminated over 1.7 million lbs. of single-use plastics annually.

FSC Certification: Protecting Healthy, Resilient Forests

ZAGG’s Eco screen protection packaging has been certified by FSC. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is committed to protecting healthy, resilient forests. The FSC label is the world’s most trusted mark for sustainable forestry. FSC certification ensures packaging comes from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

Sustainable Product Materials

ZAGG searches out sustainable materials for use in our screen protection. For example, we use a plant-based polyester called PLA (polyactic acid) in our Ultra Eco and Fusion screen protection. PLA is derived from renewable bio mass. Plant-based resources grow at a faster rate than they are used. They require less energy to create and have a lower carbon footprint.

ZAGG also uses recycled glass in our Glass VisionGuard Eco screen protector which reduces air pollution, reduces space in landfills, and conserves natural resources.

Certified Green Product from TÜV Rheinland

ZAGG’s Glass VisionGuard Eco and Fusion XTR2 Eco screen protectors have received the Green Product Mark from TÜV Rheinland. That means they’ve been deemed environmentally preferable products because of their positive impact and role in preventing pollution, using resources sustainably, and mitigating climate change.

Eden Project

ZAGG has partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects, a nonprofit dedicated to employing and empowering communities through global reforestation. For every purchase of an Eco screen protector on ZAGG.com and retailers across the globe, a tree is planted. Our efforts have resulted in over 1.1 million trees planted with Eden Project.

D3O® Bio

34% of Gear4’s iPhone case line-up utilizes D3O® Bio, the world’s most advanced, plant-based protection material. D3O® Bio is made with 52% renewable resources as opposed to fossil-based resources. Plant-based materials are preferable to petroleum in generating bio plastics because plants grow at a faster rate than they are used.

Tritan Renew

ZAGG has partnered with Eastman, a global specialty materials company, to offer select phone cases that are more sustainable with Tritan™ Renew which contains 50% certified recycled content. During fiscal year 2021, these efforts helped divert 60 metric tons of plastic waste from the ocean or landfills, the equivalent of over 6 million water bottles, and have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 51 metric tons compared to the processes using fossil-based resources.

Recycling
  • Eco-Train partner: Used cases are ground up and the material is reused
  • Gear4 cases use recycled material
InvisibleShield On Demand (ISOD)
  • The in-store ISOD machines custom cut screen protection for customers as they wait.
  • ISOD reduces the need for packaging materials by over 96%
  • ISOD reduces our shipping footprint by 95%
Corporate Initiatives
  • Corporate locations have installed solar panels, recycling drop-offs, electric car charging stations and other sustainable initiatives
  • Corporate locations participate in device recycling program
  • ZAGG has significantly reduced air freight in favor of ocean freight

Committed to the Journey

Sustainability is a journey. When we started out, we already felt a sense of urgency, like when you start a road trip and think, ‘if only we’d gotten up earlier, we’d be a couple of hours ahead.’

Even though we’ve just begun, we’re focused on the future and finding new solutions that will reduce our carbon impact and increase environmentally-friendly practices for our products, people, supply chains, and in our manufacturing.
